IMPROV Group Performance: The Free Spirits

“The Free Spirits”, a senior Improv company created at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at UCSD, is performing at Koi Zen Cellars on June 16 at 7 PM.  Ages of our ensemble range from 65-88, but age has not stopped us! Although seniors can take classes in improv at theatres in town, we think we are the only regularly performing group of senior improvisers!  The 45-minute show will be a combination of “short form” (Improv that follows a particular guideline; for example every line of dialogue needs to start with a consecutive letter of the alphabet) and “long form” (which involves the creation of an extended storyline).  The group formed just before the Pandemic, which put the brakes on us for a while, but soon we simply jumped into the world of zooming, rehearsed there, and did a couple of zoom shows.   Zooming filled the gap, but we are delighted to be back to being live!
